Given how much grief he's had to go through in his life, being the clone of Wolverine is likely going to mean you, too, will have your fair share of traumas - and that has often been the case for X-23.

Where it comes to killing loved ones, the big one that jumps out for Laura Kinney is the death of her surrogate mother.

After numerous attempts at a male Wolverine clone failed, it was scientist Sarah Kinney who had the idea to try and create a female clone of Logan. And when this cloning attempt was successful, Sarah took X-23 in as her own daughter and raised her. Unfortunately for this scientist, though, X-23 would be her ultimate demise.

It wasn't Laura's fault, of course, but she still nonetheless killed her mother figure. At fault here was the nefarious Zander Rice. As the leader of the cloning project, Rice was soon in X-23's sights. But due to the responsibility and knowledge that came with his role, Zander knew exactly what trick to pull when confronted with his creation.

That trick was to introduce a scent that would send X-23 into a rage akin to Wolverine's famed berserker rage. A tragic fallout of this rage was Laura unwittingly killing Sarah Kinney - with Sarah using her final breaths to actually bestow the Laura name on X-23.
