11 Justice League Fates Worse Than Death

1. Resurrected As Skeletons - The Obsidian Age

Justice League Superman Batman Wonder Woman
DC Comics

With the Justice League's core seven members having been missing for a month after some time-travelling, that called for a new JLA line-up to be formed.

That new line-up would be led by the ever-trusty Nightwing, with Dick Grayson soon instructing this new crew - consisting of Green Arrow, Hawkgirl, Atom, Firestorm, Major Disaster and Jason Blood - to find the missing mainstays of the Justice League. When Dick did find them, he was greeted by the shocking sight of the skeletal remains of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, et al.

Of course, dead rarely means dead in the world of comics, yet The Obsidian Age did its best to convince readers that the long-time members of the JLA were totally, totally, totally deceased.

By the time this Joe Kelly-penned story concludes, the witch Gamemnae has resurrected the dead Leaguers and embarked in combat with the reanimated skeletal remains. Along with the new Justice League, the old favourites eventually toppled Gamemnae in a fight that rumbled across different time periods before bringing our heroes back to the present day.
