3. The Atom
There were several versions of The Atom, each with their own origins, but only one of them makes this list. Silver Age Atom Ray Palmer acquired his powers in very bizarre circumstances, so bizarre that they completely destroy the laws of physics and Ray was a physicist! Ray discovered a hunk of a white dwarf star lying on the ground just lying there and despite it being made of star material and weighing a bajillion tons (a bajillion is a real number - look it up!), Ray picked it up. He then somehow integrated it into a costume with a set of controls that let him use the star stuff to reduce his mass. Ray could shrink down to the size of a photon yet still see and breathe molecules of air that would dwarf him in his microscopic state.
