11 Reasons You're Wrong About Marvel Legacy

1. The Return Of A Classic Icon

Last week, Marvel released a video teasing the return of a 'classic icon' to accompany the launch of Legacy. Fans have since speculated who the character in question could be, and, while the chances of the Fantastic Four getting a revival are admittedly slim, it's fair to say that they're still game.

In fact, anyone is; Marvel certainly have a selection of classic characters to reintroduce to the fold, including Wolverine, the newly deceased Black Widow (an unlikely return, let's face it) and a whole host of others. And while the FF are still the subject of a much criticised embargo - instigated by Ike Perlmutter in response to Fox's ownership of Marvel's first family - one Legacy title has both the Thing and the Human Torch slap-bang in the middle of its cover.

Surely that has to be encouraging, particularly since Marvel knows how much fans want to see the Four together again. And, even if they're not the returning icon, it's doubtful Marvel will be building to an anticlimax, having doubled down on the whole hype thing and all.

As far as comic book clichés go, they don't get any worse than a forced resurrection. But, in Legacy's case, the tools are there to make it work. If anything, the relaunch's commitment to shining a light one what has worked in Marvel's past - which, admittedly, is a lot - is cause for excitement. In Marvel's case, it could just be the thing that saves their year.
