Drax the Destroyer embodied the classic look of Marvel's cosmic line - characters with odd skin tones who could easily step into a wrestling ring wearing their current threads. Cloaked in purple with yellow accents to balance his light green skin, Drax was bland and forgettable. He could've easily slipped into the background of the Shi'ar Imperial Guard and become just another alien extra.

Instead, his look was updated for the Annihilation event. The bracers, belt, and cape were gone, replaced with tattooed slashes of red on his upper torso. He looked like a proper destroyer now, a utilitarian manner of dress balancing the sheer violence he brought to the fore.
