2. Deadpool

As already mentioned, Marvel loves an opportunity to mash up two really cool characters and it doesn't come much cooler or edgier than a blend of Venom and Deadpool. Which is why it's happened a fair few times, starting with the What If series that gave 'Pool an evil jheri curl haircut... It was another for the weird column.

It happened again in the slightly less odd Deadpool’s Secret Secret Wars, which revealed that 'Pool had been involved in the original Secret Wars but had been wiped out of memory by a wish by Wasp. It also revealed that 'Pool had tried on the Symbiote costume before Peter Parker did, leading to him actually breaking Venom's personality.

And then, for a hat-trick of appearances, Deadpool: Back In Black explored the story of the Symbiote bonding with Deadpool after Peter Parker had rejected it and it went back to 'Pool "on the rebound." Eventually, he realises that the emotionally unstable creature messes with his psyche too much and he too rejects it, but not before setting up the meeting between it and Eddie Brock.
