12 Unfairly Hated DC Comics Characters

Even Christopher Nolan, the trendsetter of all things Batman for a decade running, hates Robin. Each Robin has had his share of detractors, but Damian Wayne was maybe the most polarizing of all. He’s mouthy, he’s a brat, and he was brought up to kill without batting an eye. He talks back to Batman, steals Jason Todd’s old costume, and occasionally runs whining back to Talia.

All this is just to say that HE’S A GOOD CHARACTER BECAUSE HE’S A FLAWED HUMAN BEING. I’m sorry, but what really stands out with Tim Drake or Dick Grayson in terms of personality? Damian’s got fire. When you think about it, any kid who moves in Batman’s world ought to have his fair share of attitude. Otherwise, good luck surviving the Disneyland of crime that is your misspent youth.

Plus, having him start off in such an unlikable way gave him plenty of room to grow and evolve over time. And don’t pretend you hadn’t come to like him by the time he went out in a blaze of glory. Now, whether or not he should have stayed dead, that is another question.
