"Going back to my infamous pizza analogy," said Alonso, "there are going to be a few new toppings on the pie." What he's referring to is this earlier statement:
The Ultimate Universe, the Marvel Universe, they're going to slap together. Imagine two pizzas: They're going to combine toppings, some toppings are going to drop off. And that is the Marvel Universe moving forward. It's more than the Marvel Universe and the Ultimate Universe, it's all the universes you can imagine. That is the Marvel Universe going forward.
Alonso seems to be backing off from talking about "dropped toppings." He wants to focus on what Marvel's bringing in, not what it's taking away. And 50-60 titles means a lot of room on the schedule. But even so, there's no guarantee that your favorite comic will make the cut. If Marvel is indeed treating its series more like TV, with "seasons" and renewal periods, then Secret Wars may be the equivalent of May sweeps. Nobody's talking about reviving the Fantastic Four comic, for one thing. The Thing's membership in the Guardians may signal he has a lot of time on his hands.
