The Superman/Batman series overall has been a little hit-and-miss, but managed to get a more successful run of issues during a recent storyline that saw Superman flirting with Catwoman, and Batman realising he had quite a bit in common with this Lois Lane character (no doubt helped by the fact that DC now seem to be pushing Wonder Woman as the Man Of Steel's main squeeze, rather than his fellow intrepid reporter at the Daily Planet). That's probably been helped by Jae Lee moving from interior art to covers, which he's much better suited to. And it's worked out pretty well, since it means we get covers like this. Lee's style isn't particularly suited to the dynamism of mainstream superhero stories, with his dark, shadow-drenched figures in their abstract poses not really matching up with the action-packed, movement-centric style of the Superman/Batman plots. Often things start to look a bit like a diorama, or else it's a little hard to keep track of what's going on; he's far better suited to covers, where his design sensibilities really shine through, with the staged moon and stars and Batman's concerned shoulder tap making for a pretty cute piece.
