After being introduced in the pages of Amazing Fantasy #15, the first issue of The Amazing Spider-Man saw the young hero attempting to join the ranks of the Fantastic Four. He does this in the hope that they can pay him for his heroic actions (to help out his struggling Aunt May), but leaves despondent after learning that they're a non-profit organisation. Spidey would, however, end up officially joining the team when Johnny was believed dead.
