20 Most Powerful X-Men Villains Of All Time
17. Sentinels
When it comes to human-made threats to the X-Men, however, you can't go wrong with Sentinels. The recent Days Of Future Past film may have overstated their destructive prowess, since in most cases the big purple robots manage to be torn apart in second by a Wolverine in full beserker mode. But if you come up against a horde of them?
That's exactly how the Sentinels in the Days Of Future Past comic managed to wipe out most of the mutant race (and plenty of other superheroes besides). Their difficult-to-penetrate purple heads, ability to track mutants from hundreds of miles away and those big lasers they fire from their palms are harder to deal with when there's dozens of them.
For the most part the Sentinels show up nowadays as canon fodder, leftovers from creator Boliver Trask's original versions that somehow return. Then there's Days Of Future Past, or the time Cassandra Nova made some super-Sentinels and hundreds of them swarmed on the mutant island of Genosha, killing most of the population. Scary.
