24 Strangest Celebrity Cameos In Comic Book History
10. Ralph Edwards
In the vein of all game shows in existence, none could claim to be as wacky as Truth or Consequences. Created and hosted by Ralph Edwards for the majority of its run, the show featured contestants forced to answer an off-brainer within the spur of the moment. 99% of the time the participants would be unable to conceive an answer, given that the questions often had random answers, forcing said participants to suffer the "consequence". As if he couldn't catch a break already, Superman found himself on the show in Action Comics #127, and as you can probably tell from the cover, even with all his superpowers the Man of Steel was no match for Edwards's wit and writing.
9. Allen Funt
Though Johnny Knoxville and John QuiƱones have become noted for their use of the hidden camera in the 21st century, the major proponent behind its inception was television-personality Allen Funt. Funt established his legacy as a prankster during the long run of his show Candid Camera, which began with an ordinary person getting confronted by some shenanigan and ended with "Smile! You're on Candid Camera". Utilising Funt's popularity, editor Mort Weisinger decided to put Superman on the show by having Funt unintentionally reveal the Boy Scout's secret identity in a special issue of Action Comics. Not to worry of course, as Superman managed to turn the tables on Funt by the end of the issue.
Red Stewart is big fan of the entertainment industry, with insights into film, television, and video games for starters. Despite growing up in the 21st century's era of modernization, he prefers many retro era ideas over the current trends found in many of today's media. Personally he's an introvert who loves reading as much as gaming.
