4 Awesome Comics You Must Read This Week (22 January)
Your weekly guide to what's hot in comics this week.
In comics news this week, it's all change at DC in April. Justice League of America and Teen Titans are both coming to end, JLA with #14 and Teen Titans with #30 and an annual to follow. Kyle Higgins will also be leaving Nightwing behind as a new creative team takes over. In the JLA's place will be Jeff Lemire's Justice League United, previously billed as Justice League of Canada. Justice League United will mostly be holdovers from the JLA with Stargirl, Martian Manhunter, Hawkman and Green Arrow returning with new members Animal Man, Supergirl and Adam Strange. Also included will be a new character created by Lemire a superpowered Cree teenager from the Canadian area where the team are headquartered. The reason behind the name change was because it's a partial cosmic series that takes place in Rann and Thanagar as well as Canada. Justice League United is out in the Spring. Geoff Johns has revealed that Lex Luthor will be joining the Justice League in the wake of Forever Evil. If being a part of the Justice League wasn't enough, Johns hinted Luthor might even be the leader of the group! In the teaser cover, Superman, Flash and Green Lantern all key members of the League are ominously missing. What does it mean? It all kicks off in Justice League #30 out this April. Following the enormously warm reception that greeted the fuzzy elf's return in Amazing X-Men #1, Nightcrawler is getting his own series in April. Writer of the X-Men classics, Days of Future Past and The Dark Phoenix Saga, Chris Claremont is joined by artist Todd Nauck on the title. A quick word on some omissions in the column this week - if you're in the UK like me, a few big Marvel comics expected out this week have been delayed until next week due to printing problems, so I was looking forward to reading Black Widow #2 this week but I'll have to wait instead. I could read the digital version but I like to support my local comics shop and I prefer print anyway. Ok, those are the comics news stories, let's get onto the comics of the week!
