If Marvel ruled the roost last week, DC hit back this week with a couple of great comics that'll surely bolster their sales and have people once more talking about their brand. Yes, these comics feature their most famous properties, but they're great for reasons beyond familiarity as you'll see. Also included in this week's list are some strong showings from smaller publishers, while the big comics from Marvel turn out to be just ok at best. Marvel's two Events continue this week with some so-so issues, DC's Forever Evil continues to be a mediocre Event, and Valiant's Event kicks off in November, so we're largely free of gimmicky comics this week - largely. It's also New York Comic-Con week with lots of comics announcements surely to follow in the days ahead - in short, it's a good week for comics, guys. Hopefully you'll pick out some good reads from my article and maybe even discover one or two great titles you weren't aware of. Whichever comics you pick out from these five are strong books, so there should be something great for everyone. So let's get the ball rolling this week and fight the encroaching winter darkness with some high quality reading!
