1. Miracleman #1-16 (Alan Moore, Gary Leach, Alan Davis, John Ridgeway, Chuck Beckum, Rick Veitch & Jon Totelben)
What can I say about Alan Moores run on Miracleman that hasnt already been said? Brilliant. Haunting. Sexual. Innovative. Its all been stated before and its all still true. Most people havent had the pleasure of reading this run due to the fact that its been out of print forever amidst the neverending legal battles about who owns the characters and thats a crying shame. The trades sell for hundreds of dollars when you can find them and theres a damn good reason why. Its arguably the best 16 issues of any comic ever written. Moore is infamous for his deconstructions of the superhero genre, but this? This is a reconstruction of the highest order. He never retcons or updates the original MM Family adventures, just deftly explains the things we didnt see on panel while adding more on the back end. So much more Miracleman tells the story of a man at the end of his life and a god beginning his ascendance. I refuse to ever spoil this story for anyone no matter how much time passes. If you want to cheat yourself and look it up on the internet, be my guess. My advice is to read it for yourself. Gary Leach hits home run after home run bringing MMs initial trials & tribulations to life and Jon Totelben creates beautiful images of the Olympian world our characters create. His art in issue #15 is some of the best horror comic art ever. This run gets my vote for greatest comic of all time. What are some of your favorite creative runs?
