So apparently it's now safe for me to come out of the proverbial geek closet. Comic Book movies (and even comic books themselves) are now big business. Comic sales were up 20% in the first quarter alone this year meaning it's highly unlikely you'll be getting your head flushed down the toliet for being the slightest bit nerdy. Well, that's if sales truly reflected the popularity of "geek culture". However, that doesn't mean there are not a few books and heroes out there who are likely to raise eyebrows if the idea of making them into blockbuster action flicks was ever raised in the film studio boardroom. Marvel and DC are the obvious juggernauts of the market with heroes ranging from Wolverine and the X-Men series, Batman and (very shortly) even Ant-Man all being put to screen racking up massive movie sales. And what if we look at the less mainstream, the truly absurd, left-field and marginally disturbing titles from the likes of Image, Eclipse or Top Cow. Trust me when I say this, there's a few comic heroes very unlikely to end up on the big screen...
