5 DC Resurrections Done Right (And 5 That Sucked)

3. Superman - The Reign Of The Supermen

The Death of Superman might be hailed as a landmark event in comic book history, but looking back on it today, and it looks more like a cynical attempt at galvanising the Man of Steel's comics.

Superman was killed off by Doomsday only to be brought back a couple of months later with a mullet and an all-black garb. However, although there's no denying what the Death/Reign of the Supermen books accomplished, it didn't move the character forward and, in the long run, felt like something of a stop-gap.

There are just better Superman tales to tell, and though DC fans should be happy that Kal-El never kicked the bucket for good, it's equally true that the character's death and subsequent return felt very superficial.
