Readers were also treated to a return of sorts in the final issue of Flash War, which saw Bart Allen, Barry’s grandson from the future, appear in present day. Claiming to be held back by the Force Barrier, Bart is seen running in his Impulse costume for the first time since Rebirth began.

The last true sighting of this younger Bart Allen was before the New 52 initiative, as it was explained that the Bart that appeared in the New 52 was really "Bar Torr", a member of the Altrosian alien race pretending to be Barry’s grandson.

But Bart wasn’t the only one freed by the events of Flash War. As we are shown in the epilogue, a shadowy figure has broken out of the Iron Heights of the 25th century. Little is known of this stranger, other than he was the only inmate in the entire facility, he was placed there by Eobard Thawne, and that he is designated as the inmate “Crisis” . He also has an axe to grind with the Flash Family.

This has caused many to speculate that the prisoner is a time displaced Superboy Prime, who was trapped for a short time by The Flashes during the events of Infinite Crisis, but no confirmation has come so far.

Needless to say, the release of this inmate is sure to spell trouble in upcoming issues, and for the DCU overall going forward.
