6 Comics With Incredibly Unique Art (That You Probably Haven't Read)
4. My Friend Dahmer
My Friend Dahmer is a comic built on a disturbing premise. In the comic, writer John Backderf, self-styled as Derf Backderf, examines his high school friendship with the man who would go on to be one of the most notorious serial killers of the 20th century, Jeffrey Dahmer.
The comic is as dark as you would expect and goes deep into Dahmer's growing insanity. It pulls no punches, yet explains the possible outside influences which made Dahmer become who he was. This is not to say that Backderf thinks Dahmer was blameless, but rather that he was simply a product of his surroundings. The comic states plainly that Dahmer was a sick and twisted kid who should be pitied, but not forgiven.
The art style of the comic is incredibly stylised. Backderf has a cartoonish style which blends with the darkness of the story to create something truly interesting.
