6 Drastic Comic Book Changes That Won't Stick

4. The Female Thor

One of the biggest changes in recent events was the emergence of a female Thor. For the last few months, the new Thor's true identity has been one of the biggest mysteries in Marvel comics, leading to mass speculation among characters and fans alike. The trouble is that there's already a Thor, and it's, well, Thor. For the last few months the character has been going by the name Odinson, wielding a giant axe instead of his beloved hammer, but he's still a God, still speaks in the slightly silly italics, and everyone, or nearly everyone, still calls him Thor. Because of this, it's only a matter of time before Odinson reclaims his identity as the God of Thunder. The change back has already been hinted at, with Thor briefly regaining his powers thanks to an alternate reality hammer that gives the power of 'Thorr' to anyone unworthy of its power. However, Odinson was only able to use the hammer for about three pages before the hammer suddenly decided that he was no longer unworthy, and stopped working. As Odinson is now once again considered worthy, the only thing stopping him from reclaiming his hammer is the fact that lady Thor doesn't seem terribly keen on giving it up. Secret Wars has introduced the idea of a team of Thors which keep the peace on Dr Doom's Battleworld. With multiple Thors, including Beta Ray Bill and Thrug, the Frog Thor, already present, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Odinson somewhere in the group's ranks. The chances of him retaining his reclaimed power are also pretty high. Either way, with Odinson once again considered worthy, it's only a matter of time before he's back to full power as Thor. What this will mean for his female counterpart remains to be seen. Normal service will resume in: September 2015

With a (nearly) useless degree in English literature and a personal trainer qualification he's never used, Freddie spends his times writing things that he hopes will somehow pay the rent. He's also a former professional singer, and plays the saxophone and ukulele. He's not really used to talking about himself in the third person, and would like to stop now, thanks.
