March 2011, and, during their Fantastic Four run, writer Jonathan Hickman and artist Steve Epting concluded their €œThree€ storyline with the death of Johnny Storm aka the Human Torch in Fantastic Four #587. While Reed was off-world and Sue was acting as mediator between Prince Namor and Old Atlantis, Johnny and Ben Grimm/Thing were the last line of defence for the family against a new Annihilation Wave who came through the Negative Zone portal in the Baxter Building. However, Ben was temporarily powerless so Johnny closed the portal by closing it on the other side, thus saving the family. Johnny died facing the Annihilation Wave single-handed, eventually being overcome by the monster bug hordes. A new series was re-launched later that month - FF #1 - with new outfits and Spider-man as part of the team replacing Johnny, as requested in his will (the two were good friends). Later, we find out that insect-like creatures implanted in Johnny€™s body by Annihilus, actually brought him back to life. Revived, Johnny grasped control of the Annihilation Wave and headed to Earth to fight the Kree Invasion. But his return didn€™t last long as he was killed again, this time alongside Reed and Ben, in the Age of Ultron Event this year. Will his death stick? Nope! Currently Johnny can be seen in the Marvel NOW! Fantastic Four series. Where can I read about the (supposed) death of Johnny Storm? €œFantastic Four, Volume 4€ by Jonathan Hickman and Steve Epting
