8 Biggest Things To Come Out Of Doomsday Clock #2

From a certain point of view, the way the final sequence of Doomsday Clock #1 was set up, at least to an extent, seemed to be implying that Doctor Manhattan was, in fact, New Earth's Superman (at least in some manner of speaking.)

Doomsday Clock #2 seems to reinforce this idea. As Ozymandias and Rorschach research New Earth at the Gotham library, they discover just how many costumed heroes exist there. In response to this, Ozymandias presents the hypothesis that Doctor Manhattan has changed his name and appearance and decided t fight as one of them. Even Rorschach acknowledges this as a possibility.

Even if he is not Superman, this series seems to be heavily implying that Doctor Manhattan has been actively operating in New Earth for some time before Doomsday Clock began.

This makes a lot of sense, as well. After all, while costumed heroes (and villains) in the Watchmen universe are commonplace, Doctor Manhattan is the only one to actually possess superpowers, which made him something of an outcast. Meanwhile, as Ozymandias points out, New Earth's superhuman situation is like "the Doctor Manhattan situation a hundredfold."

So, it only stands to reason that Doctor Manhattan saw this new world, realized his abilities might grant him acceptance here, and adopt the costumes used by DC's natives in order to blend in further. (Plus, he also easily could have manipulated the timeline to suit his needs, and perhaps even take on the persona of one of DC's most beloved heroes.)

Of course, the possibility also exists that we're being set up for a bait-and-switch, but for now, we'll simply have to wait and see.
