8 Cancelled Marvel Legacy Series That The Fans Will Miss

Saying farewell to Gwenpool truly is a bitter pill to swallow; for both the audience and Gwenpool herself. As the name suggests, Gwenpool is somewhat akin to Deadpool, and thus has plenty of fourth wall breaking moments. In fact, she actually originated from our world, and her powers include being able to drop characters off the page. With this in mind, there really was no one else who could have done her justice like Christopher Hastings and Irene Strychalski.

It’s in ‘The Unbelievable Gwenpool #21’ that the titular hero attempts to take out Doctor Doom, in order to prove she’s worthy of joining the Avengers. She essentially conjures the old, evil Doom out of the current Infamous Iron Man iteration and throws him out of the comic. Considering her job done she turns to leave, yet Doom reappears, confusing the boundaries between page and reality with alternative dimensions; and he considers hopping between those child’s play.

She’s clearly in over her head, but luckily the Infamous Iron Man returns and saves the day, yet this brings dismay to Gwenpool. As she’s aware of how the comics industry works in reality she laments that she merely attempted to fight Doom to boost sales. Because she’d lost her fate was sealed. She even describes how she could previously she a road of pages, signalling her publication lifespan, and now can only see one or two issues ahead of her.

Tragic for her, and tragic for the fans who grew to love the charm of Gwenpool.
