8 Reasons Why Secret Empire Didn't Work

3. The Heroes Don't Save The Day

Heck, a bunch of Marvel's heroes straight up joined the Nazis, including the Punisher.

Ultimately, Secret Empire didn't end with the heroes beating Hydra Cap and Hydra itself and taking back America from the fascists.

Yes, a mix of heroes from the X-Men, Avengers, Defenders, Inhumans and more (including a bunch who'd been swayed over to the side of the Hydra Avengers) did come together to face-down the bad guys by the end, and they do get a few good punches in, but it wasn't them who beat Hydra Cap in the end.

Ultimately, they got defeated, easily I might add, by the now god-like Hydra Cap in his Cosmic Cube empowered armour. It was in fact Kobik, the living embodiment of the Cosmic Cube (who, yes, Bucky and Ant-Man helped make whole) who defeated Hydra Cap by undoing what he did, restoring the Marvel heroes and even rebooting a brand new Captain America who has the old operating system before she mucked about with it in the first place.

The heroes were barely part of the final battle, with Sam Wilson Captain America even holding them back when they wanted to help Good Steve in his fight with Hydra Steve.

As much as the narration would like us to believe otherwise, the Marvel heroes didn't really save the day...they just kind of stood there and watched as a magic MacGuffin did their work for them.
