8 Things We Learned From DC's June 2019 Solicitations
8. Bendis Gets His First Big Crossover In Event Leviathan
Brian Bendis' switch from Marvel to DC was pretty shocking, given the writer's synonymy with Marvel for the last twenty-or-so years. However, it's fair to say that the switch may have worked to both publishers' benefit, with Marvel now able to experiment with different creative teams on their flagship books, and DC now possessing a writer with a clear vision for their once aimless Superman comics.
Bendis has been very busy in the year since he switched companies, helming Superman, Action Comics and Young Justice while also resurrecting his Jinxworld books for DC. He's yet to have his big 'event' though, and with Doomsday Clock still slowly chugging along, it's understandable as to why it's taken until now for the writer to branch out into different characters.
DC's June solits revealed that Bendis will be reuniting with Alex Maleev (who collaborated with the writer for a definitive stint on Daredevil) for Event Leviathan, a "mystery thriller that stretches across the DC Universe". The first cover drawn by Maleev is wonderful, and features Green Arrow, Batman and the Question together while an ominous figure watches overhead.
Event Leviathan will also tie-in to Bendis' Action Comics, and though little is known of the book yet, anything that features Oliver Queen, Bruce Wayne and Vic Sage together is a must-read.
