8 Ways DC And Marvel Make It Impossible For Fans To Read Their Comics

4. The Same Writers Doing The Same Things

This falls more into Marvel's court than DC's (although the latter most certainly still has a long way to go in broadening its creative horizons), but it's still a massive problem nonetheless. Put simply, Marvel has a problem with changing creators.

Brian Michael Bendis, a man who, by all accounts, has to be one of the greatest comic book writers of all time, simply does too much. In the past two years alone, Bendis has written stories for Jessica Jones, Iron Man, The Defenders, The Avengers, The Guardians of the Galaxy and (technically) Doctor Doom - a massive slew of what are, probably, Marvel's most popular characters. Then there's Mark Waid, who also writes everything including The Champions, a book about a bunch of young adults who don't actually behave like a bunch of young adults. It's pretty cringe.

And then you have Nick Spencer, who, not content with turning in the most controversial Cap story of all time, has taken the reigns on Marvel's tentpole events and both Captain America books to boot. It's all very same-y, and gives the impression that Marvel are unwilling to hire other talent and diversify their creative teams.

The world needs more books like Ms. Marvel and Black Panther, and it needs it fast.
