8 Worst Things Wonder Woman Has Ever Done

6. Protected A Mass Murderer - The Hiketeia

Wonder Woman Mera The Flashpoint Paradox
DC Comics

Greg Rucka's 2002 The Hiketeia story brilliantly explored Wonder Woman's moral code.

When young Danielle Wellys goes on the run after murdering several people, she finds herself with Batman hot on her heels. The thing is, the Hiketeia ritual means that Diana is sworn to protect this youngster at all costs - meaning Wonder Woman and the Caped Crusader end up fighting over this murderous fugitive.

Adding extra layers to this situation, the people who Danielle killed are drug dealers who sexually abused her and her sister. Murder is never particularly acceptable, but there's clearly an argument here that Danielle was fully justified in her actions. Well, apart from to Batman - for death is still a major no-no for the World's Greatest Detective.

The heart of The Hiketeia is how Wonder Woman finds herself in an unwinnable situation. But regardless of whether you agree with her or not, the cold fact of the matter is that Diana protects and harbours a mass murderer. To the extent that she finds herself fighting against some of her fellow heroes.
