9 Avengers Fates Worse Than Deaths

6. Being Responsible For Ultron

Age Of Ultron
Marvel Comics

His depiction in the MCU's Avengers: Age of Ultron may have massively split opinion, but the comic book Ultron is a seriously big deal when it comes to the greatest villains in the rogues' gallery of Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

Few can claim to have bested the Avengers quite as many times as Ultron over the years since he debuted in 1968, and that debut saw him introduced as a creation of Hank Pym.

A slice of Hank's troubles have been detailed in the prior entry, and the knowledge that he's responsible for creating one of the most chilling, vicious, dominant evils in Marvel history is something that forever eats away at Pym. Whereas the MCU Ultron was the result of Tony Stark and Bruce Banner's combined efforts, it's Hank who has the sole burden of the comic book iteration of this nefarious sort.

Originally constructed with the intention of having an A.I. that shared Hank's brain patterns and could assist with the Pint-Sized Avenger's work, Ultron's extreme intelligence soon saw it 'upgrade' its own smarts several times. Brimming with hatred for Hank and humanity as a whole, the Son of Pym has killed millions over the years.

A fate even worse for Hank, is that there was even a time where Ultron assimilated his creator and carried out such atrocities in the name of Hank Pym.
