2. Immortal Hulk #13 – “Somebody Had To.”

Another example of a scene that I was thinking about from the start – the ‘Hulk in Hell’ arc, #11-#13, was the story that closed out the original pitch for Immortal Hulk, and I knew it’d end with Hulk and Banner confronting each other.

I think I was expecting that confrontation to be angry, yelling, the standard Hulk vs Banner – but when the time came, I’d been in the Hulk’s head for a while, and what came out was quieter and, to my mind, more truthful. This set the stage for everything to come, and it hit me as hard as it did some of the readers.
