Shuri died at the hands of Thanos in Infinity War, but before that she died at the hands of one of his lieutenants in the comics. At the time, she was the ruler of Wakanda, and the Black Panther. She fell, trying to save her homeland from Thanos.

She gets better eventually. But first she becomes a ghost. As we saw in Black Panther, there is a world of souls beyond this world, where the dead go.

After Shuri's death she goes there and meets up with the wise women and rulers of Wakanda for decades and centuries past, and she is told their wisdom and she learns from them, and becomes more powerful in death than she was in life.

And then, as false gods attack Wakanda, she returns to life, more powerful even now, and back as the Black Panther.
