Ant-Man died in the opening pages of Avengers: Disassembled - which was more or less the starting point of the rift that would eventually build into Civil War.

Eventually, his daughter - who became a shape-changing hero named Stature because Giant and Goliath were already taken - goes back in time to when he died as part of a kid Avengers expedition.

Overcome with emotion, she goes and hugs him... and then is instantly transported back into the future, along with her father.

Turns out, he never actually died in the past. He just was pulled into the future, locked out of his own time for a couple of years and decided, "Eh," and just kinda... stayed in the future.

Which is basically Scott Lang's exact time travel story in the opening of Avengers: Endgame.
