When the self-proclaimed God of Mischief, Loki, terrorised Earth many years ago, Iron Man, Hulk, Ant-Man, Wasp, and Thor assembled to stop him. Upon his defeat, the group concluded that they worked well together and so, decided to form a superhero team called The Avengers.
After several decades, hundreds of issues, and countless members, the Avengers' comic series is still going. No matter the threat, whether its gods, time-travellers, aliens, Hydra, or devourer of worlds, Earth's Mightiest Heroes will always be there to face it head-on.
Now that they have one of the most lucrative movie franchises ever, the average moviegoer probably feels like they have a much better sense of who each of the Avengers are. However, the same cannot be said about the villains they face. Apart from the adversaries seen in the films, few people can name any of the Avengers arch-enemies.
And considering Marvel's most iconic superteam has been going strong for 58 years, the Avengers have a vast rogue gallery. Even if you read every Avenger comic, you will probably struggle to name every supervillain on this list.
