Batman's 9 Greatest Failures
1. Being Broken By Bane
It was the KRAKT heard around the comics world and one of the '90s defining moments. In the wake of the commercial success of The Death of Superman, DC Comics replaced most of its top heroes with varying degrees of success.
Hal Jordan would fall from grace, die and be replaced by Kyle Rayner. Wonder Woman, killed by Neron, ascended to become the Goddess of Truth, and Artemis briefly took her place in mans world. There was almost no character who made it through the Grunge Era unscathed.
Bane's ingenious strategy of freeing and arming every inmate in Arkham, exhausting Batman mentally and physically, was not the reason for the Dark Knight's defeat. It was once again Bruce's hubris that was his undoing; by refusing to allow others to help him lest they risk suffering the same fate as Jason Todd, Batman signed his death warrant.
Rushing headlong into battles with all his greatest enemies one after the other, keeping Robin at arm's length and Dick Grayson in the dark, it was inevitable Bane would break him.
