Captain Marvel: 10 Comics You Must Read Before The Film

1. Avengers Vs. Thanos

Half the universe decimated with but a snap of the fingers. How will the Avengers recover? Is there really not going to be a Black Panther sequel? And most importantly, just what does Nick Fury expect Captain Marvel to do about it?

The book Avengers vs. Thanos (2013) collects the most important pre-Infinity War stories and offers a fascinating insight into how Marvel and the Avengers have successfully (and otherwise) fought Thanos over the years. Most notable is Captain Marvel #25-33, in which Mar-Vell (him again), Drax and Mantis battle a Cosmic Cube 'roided out Thanos, and successfully beat him so definitively that his beloved Goddess Death all but gave up on him. Which opens up a whole new can of Thanos worms...

They may have switched out the Marvels, but this book remains a lovely bit of schadenfreude for anyone still feeling sore about how Infinity War ended. And with Brie Larson's Captain Marvel on the way, we don't fancy the Mad Titan's chances...
