Captain Marvel: 10 Comics You Must Read Before The Film

5. Higher, Further, Faster, More

Rebooted again in 2014 (those folks at Marvel just love a re-numbering), Kelly Sue DeConnick's continued run on the character is just as iconic and exciting as the first... if slightly less lofty in its importance.

Higher, Faster, Further, More (a fantastic subtitle which has made it to the film's poster) kickstarts some of the Captain's most fun adventures to date - one of which even features Rocket Raccoon!

Of all the possibilities opened up by Captain Marvel's inclusion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a potential recreation of this book's fight between Rocket and Carol's pet cat... a superpowered alien named Chewie. How's that for corporate synergy?
