Captain Marvel: 10 Comics You Must Read Before The Film
3. Rise Of Alpha Flight
Not content with rebooting the character's book twice already, Captain Marvel got her third Issue #1 in 2016. This time, however, she had brought new friends in Alpha Flight, and a new creative team in Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas.
While Alpha Flight have been knocking about in the (616) Marvel Universe for years now, Rise of Alpha Flight sets up Carol as the leader of this newest iteration, and serves as a neat jumping-on point for both.
With Carol and the team guarding the galaxy from aboard a futuristic space station, it positions the Captain as more of a diplomat than readers may have seen previously, showcasing a different side to her character. It's unlikely we'll see much of them in her forthcoming movie, but we might expect an appearance, ala Captain America's Howling Commandos in The First Avenger.
