Comic Con 2012: Toys, Collectables And Cool Stuff: Part 2
Star Wars
For me, between 1997-2007, Comic Con was about what was next in the Star Wars 3 3/4 inch figure ranges. I've all but finished collecting the figures now as they've got far too spindly and repetitive but I'm still on the look out for cool Star Wars merchandise and this year had a great selection. For me 2012 is all about the return of Maul. The makers of all things collectable knew that too and we got a great many Mauls to drop our money on. The last one here is the one I'd sell a limb for. The detail on it is just amazing. There's also the fun Star Wars stuff. It's this stuff that usually makes me grin enough to spend money on it. The 3 3/4 ranges also had a bit of growth. Collectable packs, re-designs and relaunches ran their usual course but Ewoks and retro packaged Millennium Falcons made my Star Wars collector sense tingle (especially when one of those Ewoks is Princess Neesa!). The other great thing about Star Wars merchandise is that each year we see some mad stuff enter the range. This year there's Death Star ice cubes, Force Gloves and Kid's lightsaber lamps. Man I wish I was born later. My room was Star Wars filled anyway but now literally EVERYTHING could be Star Wars in a kids room. They don't know how good they've got it, the lucky little swines. Of course Kotobukiya got in on the act as well. That's right folks, even X-Wing pilots can be sexy. The two things that really did bowl me over in the Star Wars world this year though were these two figures. WOW. I've never wanted Star Wars Episode 3.5 as much as I do after seeing these two figures. The Obi-Wan Kenobi model is such a great image that you could read five fan fiction novels follow that with ten comics and still want more. Absolutely amazing. Look at that detail on Obi's face. The perfect bridge between Ewan and Alec. Click "next" below for the final part...
