So we've come to the end of another Danger Girl mini series and with an opening page extremely reminiscent of classic Danger Girl with Donovin Conrad held over a pit of Alligators, were off to a great start. So far this series has been a mixed bag, starting strong but by issue three it felt a bit drab and rushed. Issue #4 certainly improves from the previous issue but its not exactly classic Danger Girl. With Abbey joining Donovin for the big bad guy auction in order to retrieve the sacred medallion were in territory that Danger Girl can thrive in. Abbey is in a pretty dress, Sydney watches from afar and new girl Sonya is waiting in the wings to strike. It takes a while to kick off but when it does its a fun action ride. Starting with some kicking and punching and heading quickly into a car chase involving Sydney on a motorbike and Abbey and the rest of the gang trying to help in a stolen police car. There are some genuine cinematic thrills in this sequence with a single panel that actually made me chuckle (it involves the bad guys car flying through the air in an exploding car and giving the update Were pretty much dead to the boss as they spin *chuckle*). As expected the girls save the day but we rush through the wrap up on a single page and before we know it theres more people for the girls to beat on nearby and were left with the newly formed three piece team officially welcoming Sonya Savage to team Danger Girl. All in all this mini series was about as good as the previous spin offs in that it offers up very little in the way of worth, ends up being a bit of fun and only really hints at the greatness the original run delivered. I still like the Danger Girls and new girl Sonya seems okay so far as well but this four part mini feels as if it simply scraped the surface of what makes Danger Girl so good and Im hoping IDW make more of it next time, maybe giving more issues for these stories to breathe in a little bit maybe.
