As rival company DC Comics are about to embark on a complete reboot of the entire DC universe, Marvel have gotten the idea that it was about time our favourite blind lawyer from Hells Kitchen got a complete overhaul. For the past decade or so the life for Daredevil has gone from really bad to truly horrific for the character and while it was very interesting to see his life fall apart, we were all left wondering if there ever a way for the poor guy to come back from the brink. The last time we saw DD he had just recovered from the events of Shadowland (which saw him completely snap and become a villain) and embarked on a journey to revaluate his life and find himself. Now he€™s back in Daredevil #1 by fan favourite writer Mark Waid and it looks like he€™s back to his former days of glory. From the offset this is a Daredevil who is charming, charismatic, having fun with what he does, appreciates his friends and does his best to uphold the law- both inside and outside of the courtroom. Waid pays enough respect to former events without completely ignoring anything or alienating anyone who is new to the character. Daredevil is far more human and likable in this relaunch than ever before, it almost harkens back to the early days of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko€™s DD tales. The issue begins with Daredevil crashing a wedding to prevent a kidnapping, it€™s a great swashbuckling tale and leads nicely into a legal drama for his alter ego Matt Murdock. It€™s nice to see a writer who gets the potential of the character, instead of the dark and dreary storylines we were used to getting with DD, we are now seeing his lawyer side in action again, and it€™s about time! For fans, this is great direction for DD, and one that I€™m sure everyone will get behind. For newcomers, this is the best place to start. Do yourself a favour and pick up a copy, Daredevil is back and better than ever.
