Doomsday Clock #1: 10 Things Everyone Totally Missed

7. The End Is Here

No longer 'nigh', the end of everything is here.

Watchmen #1 began with a look at another sign, one that had 'THE END IS NIGH' scrawled across it. This one was actually held by Walter Kovacs, who would later be revealed to be the vigilante Rorschach.

Doomsday Clock #1 too focuses on a sign, this time held by an angry protester, that reads 'The End is Here'.

It's a simple method of showing not just progression, but also the state of the world of the Watchmen since the end of the original story.

This is a world not just approaching the brink of destruction as it was in Watchmen, this is world stood right on the precipice, that is facing immediate destruction. This world, even after a time of peace, is now far worse off than the world we see in the Watchmen original story.

It's a simple tactic. But could it mean more? Could it be suggesting that this will also be the end of DC using the Watchmen story at all? Only time will tell on that front.
