When all the Multiverses ended due to a phenomenon called the Incursions, Doctor Doom usurped the vast cosmic powers, created a second Battle World, and set himself up as the God-Emperor of this new land. He took Sue Richards as his wife and Franklin and Valeria as his children.

Doom convinced the Thing to become part of what would be known as The Shield and protect the people of the land and the Thing was transformed into a living wall that separates the areas of New Xandar, the Deadlands, and Perfection from the rest of the planet. The Shield is defended by Hel-Rangers and Ultron Sentinels.

With help from the inside, Thanos finally made his way through the Shield and told Ben that God-Emperor Doom had been lying to him all along. Enraged, Grimm reformed himself and went to confront Doom. This left a major opening in Doom’s defenses, and the previously thought dead Reed Richards usurped Doom’s power - then, with the aid of the Molecule Man, Reed recreated the multiverse.
