Justice League: 10 Most Emotional Moments
4. Barry Allen Sacrifices Himself
Crisis on Infinite Earths held many long lasting ramifications for the greater DC universe, with one of the most shocking and tragic being the death of the Flash, Barry Allen.
Sacrificing himself to foil the plans of the Anti-Monitor, his death came as a shock to both the heroes in the universe(s) of the comic and in real life. After all, Barry had long been a fan favorite, and was a core member of the Justice League.
In the aftermath of his death his mantle would be taken up by his protege Wally West, and it would be 23 long years until we saw Barry in an official capacity during the events of Final Crisis. The real world time passing helped to add to the finality of this moment, and in universe it was no different.
Decades of storytelling followed, and scattered across them were callbacks and flashbacks to Barry. Partially because of his sacrifice, Barry became the standard bearer for what makes DC's heroes so heroic.
