Perhaps the most exciting and mysterious thing about Secret Wars is that people genuinely have no idea what comes after it. And Marvel aren't telling. Their announcement that this new Battleworld is the new status quo going forward had some fans confused, assuming that for the forseeable future all Marvel comics would take place on a patchwork alternate reality field of battle. That's not the case. What's more likely is that Marvel will take the opportunity to tweak some things to bring them more in line with their movies - make Nick Fury black, and play down the importance of the X-Men and Fantastic Four because they don't own the rights to them. But they might also fix Spider-Man and Mary Jane's marriage, or resurrect favourite dead heroes. They'll be importing the big Ultimate successes like Miles Morales over, too. The Free Comic Book Day All-New Avengers book revealed a team with him, Ms. Marvel, Sam Wilson as Captain America, a new Iron Man and The Vision. So they survive! But apart from that, the Marvel universe that will exist EIGHT MONTHS LATER might be totally unrecognisable. So you know what that means, True Believers... you're going to be driving your local comic book store insane with all the changes you make in your regular monthly orders. And they can't plan ahead, because everything is so secret. Ah, comic books. Are you looking forward to Secret Wars? What do you think will happen? Share your thoughts down in the comments.
