Back in Spider-Man #25, Peter Parker found himself and Excalibur stuck on one of the villain Arcade's famous Murderworlds.

Thanks to some deception tech, Spidey found a way to make it look like he gained the powers and possession of the Phoenix Force, and while it wasn't real, he did give his costume a sprucing-up to make the illusion work.
