Spider-Man: 10 Ways Miles Morales Is Eclipsing Peter Parker

3. His Stories Are More Realistic, Relatively Speaking

Given his work with the likes of Daredevil and Powers, it's no surprise that Brian Michael Bendis is able to add a surprising amount of genuine grit to a hero that originated in the more poppy Ultimate universe. This is carrying over to the pages of the new Spider-Man series, and is helping ground Miles' adventures in reality a lot more.

Obviously we have to recognise that "reality" is a relative term when spider-powered heroes fight all manner of super-villains, but the more a set of stories like these can be grounded in reality, the better. Since the events are based in accurate versions of New York, it's nice to be able to link them to our own world as much as possible.

Peter Parker's current adventures are pushing the boundaries of sci-fi in some very exciting ways, especially with Spider-Verse and his recent conflict with the Zodiac. While this is bombastic and exciting in its own way, the reality to Miles' simpler stories gives them a certain gravity that's very attractive in a sea of wild, out-there Marvel books.
