Star Wars: 10 Best Expanded Universe Comics From The New Canon
4. Vader: Dark Visions (2019)
Vader: Dark Visions is a five-issue mini-series where each issue tells a different story with Darth Vader as the main through-line.
Written by Dennis 'Hopeless' Hallum (Spider-Woman), the series manages to capture a different style in each issue; one issue reads like a psychological thriller, while another will read as a Friday the 13th-style horror film.
Each issue has a different artist so they can capture the different style of each story. With talents like Paolo Villanelli (Star Wars: Bounty Hunters) and David Lopez (All-New Wolverine), every issue looks fantastic. They work as strong examples of how writers and artists can work in tandem to tell a strong story.
Vader: Dark Visions is a great series and an example that not every comic has to push the new canon forward to tell a compelling story. It's not integral to the Star Wars canon, but it is a fantastic look at Darth Vader from different perspectives.
