Star Wars: 10 Best Expanded Universe Comics From The New Canon

3. Thrawn (2018)

Star Wars Vader Down
Marvel Comics

The Marvel Comics Thrawn series is an adaption of Timothy Zahn’s novel about Thrawn’s rise through the Imperial ranks, which was also a New York Times best-seller. Jody Houser (Faith) and Luke Ross (Captain America and the Mighty Avengers) adapt the critical darling with resounding success.

Starting with a young Thrawn as he graduates from the Imperial Academy with the highest marks, he quickly rises through the ranks as a rising star in the Imperial Navy. A rival by the name of Arihnda Pryce is a constant thorn, trying to knock Thrawn down the more they progress throughout the Empire.

Ross and Houser highlight the best aspects of their work within this comic, which is a must-read for any Thrawn fan. Thrawn is a brilliant adaptation of Timothy Zahn’s novel and the closest thing to a silver screen version fans will be getting anytime soon.
