The Joker: 10 Totally Different Characters He's Been

1. Satan

If that seems like the most powerful The Joker has ever been, clearly you've not been reading the current Endgame storyline in the main Batman title. Which you absolutely should, since writer Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo have been totally knocking it out of the park. Which they've been doing by not so much creating a top-notch superhero book, but what is undoubtedly a horror story. Their previous Death Of The Family involved The Joker returning for his €œfinal revenge€ on Batman and his various sidekicks, but Endgame feels like the real...well, endgame for the Clown Prince Of Crime. This is The Joker with his classic look, but a history that is totally new and, frankly, totally terrifying. Over the course of Endgame it's been revealed that not only has the villain infiltrated the rebuilt Arkham Asylum, but he's been inflitrating every part of Gotham City for years €“ or even decades, or centuries. It's implied, with his ghoulish smile found in archive photos going back hundreds of years, that he's immortal. An eternal being, born to bring chaos and evil wherever he goes, literally haunting Gotham City since his conception. The latest version of The Joker? He's the devil himself.
