The Joker's 10 Most Sickeningly Twisted Moments

2. The (Figurative) Death Of Superman And (Literal) Death Of Joker

Batman Superman Joker
DC Comics

Setting up the alternate-reality videogame 'Injustice: Gods Among Us', the surprisingly good comic book tie-in sees the Joker give Batman a break for once and go play in Metropolis for a while. Choosing Big Blue as his playmate, Joker drugs Superman with a particularly potent dose of Scarecrow's Fear Gas, causing the Kryptonian to believe that Doomsday is attacking lover Lois Lane and their unborn child. Furious, Superman grapples the beast into space and pummels the bony b**tard into oblivion.

Except... ...It emerges that 'Doomsday' is, in fact, Lois, every bit as dead as you might imagine a human woman to be after being punched into space by Superman. But that's not all. Having also rigged her heart to sync with an explosive device, he then blows up Metropolis, all in one fell swoop. Now even more furious, Superman murders Joker in a fit of rage, triggering the beat 'em up plot of 'Injustice' and forming his own evil super-dictatorship.

Although very much dead (which didn't stop him from appearing as a playable character in the game) the Joker had managed to kill Lois Lane, destroy Metropolis, shake the Boy Scout's moral foundations to their very core and utterly ruin the Universe's superheroes for everyone else. Fair to say, the Joker had the last laugh on this occasion. Again.
