Thor: 10 Legendary Mjolnir Facts

9. Multiple Energy Powers

Mighty Thor
Marvel Comics

In addition to having the ability to channel lightning, Mjolnir has the ability to channel a number of other powerful forms of energy. Thor is capable of creating an indescribably powerful blast called the Anti-Force with his hammer, and in Thor #25, the blast was capable of potentially killing the powerful Mangog. Similarly, the weapon's universe-shaking Thermo-Blast has the ability to decimate a planet; even a sentient one like Ego the Living Planet.

Through Mjolnir, Thor was able to manipulate vast amounts of his own godly power into a single blast that he calls the God-Blast. Even when reinforced by his Belt of Strength, this more than doubled the hammer’s durability. The God-Blast was so shockingly powerful, even the all-powerful Galactus was forced to flee in Thor #161 for fear of being destroyed. Elsewhere, the Thunder God once used the God-Blast to halt the Juggernaut in motion and push him back into a hole.

Thor also has the ability to absorb energies directed at Mjolnir, amplify them, and fire them back at his enemies. In the past, he has absorbed the energies of Ultron, the Silver Surfer's Power Cosmic, Sky-Walker’s Cosmic Staff, and Magneto’s magnetic field. The hammer can also sense energy of all types, including psychic and supernatural, and Thor can use Mjolnir to track energy patterns and the auras of his own Asgardian people.
